Australia celebrates coming second in Ninja Warrior USA vs. the World TV competition with beer

After three seasons Down Under, Australia appeared at the annual Ninja Warrior USA vs. the World TV competition on Tuesday night.

Despite narrowly missing out on first place, the Australian team showed good sportsmanship in a very Aussie way.

Australia’s Ashlin Herbert congratulated the US’ Drew Dreschel at the top of the final challenge by sharing a beer together.

The five athletes who wore orange to represent Australia were Ashlin Herbert, Bryson Klein, Ben Polson, Olivia Vivian and Jack Wilson.

The Australian team narrowly missed out on first place by less than 30 seconds, as both Herbert and Dreschel raced to the top of a 21-metre rope.

While Europe had taken out the competition last year, America and Australia were neck-to-neck for majority of the challenged.

Ninja Warrior Australia appeared to have chosen fan favourites to represent the nation in the global competition.

Ashlin has been labelled a fierce competitor after making the grand final in all three seasons of the series and setting the fastest time in the 2019 semi-final.

Fan favourite Bryson also secured his place in the grand final this year after beating a competitor by more than one minute.

Meanwhile, Olivia made history this season after becoming the first woman to press the buzzer in the semi-final.

And last year’s competitor Ben also made the semi-finals while Jack competed in the 2018 grand final.

Interestingly, golfer Charlie Robbins, who took home $100,000 after being crowned the winner of the 2019 Australian Ninja Warrior on Monday, was not on the team.
