LEKKI FIVE STOREY BUILDING COLLAPSE : LEKKI GARDENS MD, RICHARD NYONG CHARGED TO COURT

Following the collapse of a five storey building in Lekki on Tuesday in which the death toll rose to 34, the Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Mr. Richard Nyong, 34, has been detained at the Panti Police Station.
According to Mr. Dolapo Badmus, the CEO of the residential property development company, Mr. Richard Nyong has been detained at the Panti Police Station and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are complete.

Mr. Richard Nyong reported to the police station with his lawyer, Mr. Wale Olanipekun following a directive from the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode that all the directors of the company should surrender within 24 hours to the Lagos Police Commissioner when it was discovered that the company allegedly illegally added additional two floors to the building as against the approved plan by the regulators.

One of the contractors handling the building Ododfin Taiwo had earlier been arrested on Wednesday.

Lekki Gardens however is a very popular and highly rated company that has successfully built many estates in Lekki, Lagos State at cheap prices making housing affortable to Lagos residents.

 The incidence is really shocking!!

UPDATE: Richard Nyong and Ododfin Taiwo were charged to court today, Friday, 11th March. Below are photos of them handcuffed in court.
